Pastor Peter’s Pod

Hi Ilamites

I guess that, this week, we’re probably all holding our breath to see whether the government relaxes restrictions next week, and we return to Alert Level 1 once again. It’s a nice thought for life in general – especially with the school holidays coming up at the end of next week. From a church point of view, it would mean that we can return to meeting together on Sundays and services at Ilam School can re-commence.

In the hopes that it might be our last Sunday for now at Level 2, we will be meeting in groups again this Sunday. I hope you will receive an email invitation from the host of your group.

We’re continuing to learn a lot about what it means to be church, and to gather as church – and I’m hoping that recent conversations around the ways we might meet each week will continue to flow on, whatever the outcome of the next announcement next week. We don’t need to go back to the way things have always been, just for the sake of it. And, of course, while there is a pandemic on the loose in the world, we will need to continue to be flexible.

Feedback on “Ilam in Groups”

At the end of our “Ilam in Groups” service last Sunday we gathered all the groups together on Zoom to feedback the outcomes of group discussions around how everyone has been finding the way we have been operating at Alert Level 2. There was some great feedback – which I noted and am attaching for you to see. (If it looks like Alert Level 2 is going to be extended, then we will definitely be giving some thought to how we might potentially make use of the school hall space on Sundays in some way – if we can work through the logistical requirements.)

This week’s service:

The service this week has been prepared by Liz and Chris. It includes communion – so if you are hosting, you my like to make sure that you have some juice, bread and / or crackers handy.
