COVID, Prayer and CO2 Monitors
We’re super aware that COVID is still cycling around the community – It’s not gone away yet!! We had some different families in isolation this week. It’s good to be aware of who we should be specifically praying for! The virus seems to be hitting people in quite different ways but, reassuringly, most Ilamites seem to be coming right gradually.

Sunday was the first day with the CO2 Monitor in action in the school hall. A big thanks to Anna and Malcolm for sorting this out for us – and educating us on how to use it! It was probably not quite such a cold day, but we did manage to go for most of the service with significantly less ventilation. There was a glitch with the heating not working – but Margaret is on to the school about that! I think we’re on track for a more comfortable experience. Fingers crossed, anyway!

This Sunday – what is an “Ilam Day”?
I keep hearing about these “Ilam Days”! However, during my 6 years at Ilam there has never been one – for a whole lot of reasons. That omission (?) is being rectified this coming Sunday.

What is an Ilam Day? Well, as Baptists, believe that it is in the times of gathering together, and talking and listening together, and praying together, that we discern God’s direction in decisions we need to make. This Sunday, we want to talk together about the Belonging Document which the Governance Team were working on over the first part of last year. It is the fruit of discussions within the Governance Team – but it is important that we make time for everyone who is part of Ilam to contribute their thoughts into the discussion.

So, in my mind, an “Ilam Day” is an opportunity for us to gather and share our thoughts on something that is important to us. We’re really hoping that you’re able to join us on Sunday morning for the conversation. If you’re not able to be there, please feel free to email your comments on the Belonging Document.

What does it mean to “belong” to Ilam? We practise a very open sense of belonging – and we’re keen to get your thoughts on this, as how we operate doesn’t really reflect what our Constitution currently says. We probably need to make some changes to the Constitution, therefore – but some good conversation about what we mean by ‘belonging’ is the starting place!

Can we all aim to be at the school around 10.15? That way we can be off to a sharp-ish start by 10.30 at the latest!
