Matariki Service
Join the celebration.
When: 10am, Sunday July 12.
Where: Sign of the Bellbird shelter, Scenic Rd, Port Hills. (Directions and map location below) Brunch at homes afterwards.
What: Ilam Baptist Whanau celebrating Matariki together.
A special time in the great outdoors, giving thanks for God’s goodness in our lives, remembering loved ones who have passed and sharing hopes for our future.
We will share for 30 mins in waiata, karakia, and reflection together at the shelter.
After the gathering two of our church families will host a bring and share Soup and Buns Brunch from 11.15am til 12.30pm ish.
What to bring: Dress extra snug and warm for winter. The current weather forecast is for a fine frosty morning. Bring a cushion or deck chair to sit on in or around the shelter if you like. The seats in the shelter will be brrrrr!
Directions to Sign of the Bellbird: Drive up Dyers Pass Rd to the Sign of the Kiwi. Turn right onto the Summit Road. Follow the Summit Road for about 4.5 km. Turn left into the John Jameson Lookout Carpark, or, if full, find a safe park on the side of the road. If you do this please find a place you can pull well off the road. The Sign of the Bellbird shelter is the stone building below the road on the city/Canterbury Plains side of the Summit Rd. Please take extra care crossing the road.
