Services

February 28th, 2007

Ilam Baptist Church meets at 10:30 on Sunday mornings in the Ilam School Hall, 66 Ilam Road, Christchurch.

In common with every Christian church, we gather each week to worship God the Father, through his Son Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit. As a worshiping community we want people of all ages to feel like they belong, to find a safe place to be, an opportunity to share their different gifts, and the chance to go out and make a meaningful contribution to the world as participants in the great unfolding story of God.

The worship service can have different flavours from week to week, but overall we hope to express our shared aspirations of
- being connected and responsible to each other
- showing God’s love to those both inside and outside the church
- lamenting our personal and collective losses, while being held in the hope of the gospel
- Unselfconsciously celebrating God and life in all its goodness

Younger Ilamites are important members of our church community. For part of the Sunday service there are programmes for the different age groups:
- a creche is available for the under threes
- ‘Galaxy Club’ operates for children over 3 years of age, and up to year 6 of primary school.
- SPF is a program for intermediate aged kids.
