What is Missionscope?
Missionscope aims to connect the congregation of Ilam Baptist with Christian ministries overseas. The MissionScope team meets monthly to discuss the projects that Ilam supports and make decisions on policy and promotion for them. The team also supports the missions in prayer and provides liaison between the Ilam congregation and its overseas partners. MissionScope is also a point of contact for people who are interested in Christian mission work.

Current People and Projects Supported by IBC 07 – 08
• Church work in Indonesia – supporting a local church.
• Development work in Bangladesh – supporting a project that involves husband and wife Bangladeshi couples living in poor rural communities as Community Development Organisers. With appropriate leadership, training, resourcing and personnel, they facilitate sustainable community development. Each couple directly impacts about 200 local poor people, but reaches an estimated 500 to 1000 people through friends, relatives and community relations. Currently there are 70 couples with opportunities for another 300.
Development activities include: child education, adult literacy, savings groups, income generating activities, primary health care, environmental care, justice and advocacy, community training, and agricultural and livestock training. One couple including all development work costs approximately $5000 per year, or $25 per local poor participant/beneficiary.
• Services for children with a visual disability in Central Asia – supporting community workers and a preschool for children who have a visual disability
• Youth training programme in the Philippines – training Filipinos to work as youth workers, community workers and pastors amongst the urban poor in Manila.
